Marlborough Primary School

Well-being

We recognise that being mentally healthy is as  important as being physically healthy and are fully committed to supporting the positive mental health and well-being  of our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers).

We are a kind and happy school. We nurture, support and care and ensure each individual and contribution is acknowledged and valued.

We also recognise that practical help, a well organised school with a broad curriculum,  full of rich opportunities enable our children and team to have a better quality of life and that this contributes to a better well-being.

We understand that we may all experience life challenges that can make us feel vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We also recognise the role we play in ensuring all in our community learn about what they can do to maintain positive mental health, what affects their mental health, how they can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and where they can go if they need help and support.

We understand that children will not access or gain the full benefit of learning opportunities if they are not emotionally and mentally healthy. We endeavour to equip pupils with the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with a variety of challenging  situations in life, so that they manage given situations in an appropriate way  that will not be detrimental to their emotional well-being  and mental health. In addition to this, we ensure our pupils feel confident in raising concerns or    in seeking help and support.

We recognise that our team are of key importance to the success and running of the school on a daily basis. Thus, it is of paramount importance that  we feel content and supported in our roles so that we can undertake them to  the best of our ability.

We understand that parenting can be challenging and that many parents may need support from time to time. This may include support with their own metal health and well-being . We work with a number of statutory and non-statutory services to support parents. As a team we build strong and purposeful relationships with our parents and carers so that all feel able to approach us and seek help should they need it.

Kindness, aspiration and perseverance are our core values. We are kind to all in our community, we aspire for all to be healthy and successful and support each other through times where perseverance is required.
